Help with vet bills in Indiana
State and local programs we checked for Indiana residents, plus the national funds that also accept applications from here. This is a starting list, not every program: ask your local shelter, humane society or vet about others. Page last verified 2026-10-19.
Hospital-based hardship fund
- What it offers
- IndyVet Emergency and Specialty Hospital's Sharing the Care fund uses donations to help families facing financial hardship get emergency or specialty care. A donation is added toward the final invoice but does not cover the whole bill.
- Who qualifies (as stated)
- Patients at IndyVet whose owners have exhausted other options (personal finances, CareCredit, donations from friends and family); the leadership team decides after the doctor proposes a case.
- Limits and exclusions
- Only patients with a positive prognosis (young with a non-terminal illness) qualify.

Shelter-run assistance and clinics
- What it offers
- Its Help My Pet page lets people apply for financial assistance for vaccines, spay/neuter surgeries or further veterinary care and also lists a pet food pantry and 30-day compassion foster. - Who qualifies (as stated)
- Fort Wayne-area owners; see the Help My Pet page for the application.

National funds worth checking too: see all assistance programs. Many local funds only pay for care that has not yet been paid and exclude routine care; read each exclusions line. Not veterinary, legal or financial advice; a listing is not a promise of help.
