State and local programs we checked for Kentucky residents, plus the national funds that also accept applications from here. This is a starting list, not every program: ask your local shelter, humane society or vet about others. Page last verified 2026-10-19.

Vet-recommended lifesaving grants
- What it offers
- A WTVQ news report (July 27, 2022) said the national nonprofit Compassion Animal Project partnered with Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists + Animal Emergency in Lexington to pay for lifesaving care for curable, one-time conditions; the vet recommends the program and the family applies, and the founder said he approves completed applications in under 30 minutes.
- Who qualifies (as stated)
- Families whose pet has a curable, lifesaving need; the hospital refers you.
- Limits and exclusions
- Based on a 2022 news article, not on the program's own current page, so check that the Lexington partnership is still active before relying on it.

National funds worth checking too: see all assistance programs. Many local funds only pay for care that has not yet been paid and exclude routine care; read each exclusions line. Not veterinary, legal or financial advice; a listing is not a promise of help.
