Help with vet bills in Washington

State and local programs we checked for Washington residents, plus the national funds that also accept applications from here. This is a starting list, not every program: ask your local shelter, humane society or vet about others. Page last verified 2026-10-19.

Seattle Humane: Pet Owner Assistance Fund, Polly's Pocket Fund and Svanee's Last Chance Fund

Assistance funds

What it offers
The Pet Owner Assistance Fund helps families with high or unexpected costs; Polly's Pocket Fund helps with lifesaving or life-extending treatment for a sick or injured pet; Svanee's Last Chance Fund (established 2024) covers urgent but treatable conditions needing surgery or medical management for shelter and community pets. An Application for Assistance covers help in your community with vet care, pet food and supplies, fence repair, cremation and other pet-care costs.
Who qualifies (as stated)
Families struggling with costs; for Svanee's, email [email protected] to see whether your pet qualifies. The page says no government ID or documentation is required to access its services.
Limits and exclusions
Svanee's covers only diagnosed parvovirus, panleukopenia, urethral obstruction (cat only), fractures requiring amputation, GI obstruction or pyometra. Seattle Humane says it has limited scope and capacity.

National funds worth checking too: see all assistance programs. Many local funds only pay for care that has not yet been paid and exclude routine care; read each exclusions line. Not veterinary, legal or financial advice; a listing is not a promise of help.
